Step 5 — Get consent
Before any CV goes to an employer, the candidate agrees to it — in writing, specific to the role. It's the law, and it's good business: every CV the employer receives comes with a person who wants to be in the shortlist.
Why consent first
- Legal. A CV is personal data under GDPR. Consent is the clean lawful basis for sharing it.
- Reputation. Candidates who get blindsided don't come back. Candidates who are asked properly do.
- Quality. The employer only receives candidates who are engaged and expecting the call.
Request consent
1
Pick the candidate
In the job's Shortlist tab, approved candidates are listed under 'Needs consent'.
2
Send the request
A prepared email asks permission to put their profile forward — specific to the role, no obligation. Send it from your connected mailbox, or from your own inbox and mark it sent.
3
Record the answer
When the candidate replies, mark them Consented or Declined. The shortlist updates automatically.
Tip — The consent message is prepared for you — one-line reply is all the candidate needs to send.
Track the states
- Needs consent — approved, not yet asked.
- Requested — asked, waiting for a reply.
- Consented — agreed. Ready for the shortlist.
- Declined — said no. That's information too; move on gracefully.
